Doritos Screamin’ Sriracha
Sriracha is supposed to be sweet, sour, hot, and garlicky. All of those are present, but something about the balance is off. I don’t hate it but I don’t think it’s a well-rounded experience without some kind of a dip, which a good Doritos flavour doesn’t need.
The main problem with this film is that it feels like an episode of an ongoing series, not a complete story on its own. (The other main problem is Cam Gigandet’s Hicks, who is mainly here to say stupid things and be impressed by the competence of everyone who isn’t him.)
The main thing that distinguishes this Tiki drink from the classic Zombie is that it’s served up, not blended with ice. Other than that it could easily pass as someone’s slightly simplified take on the original 1934 recipe. This makes it feel less summery and more appropriate for spooky season.
- 1.5 oz dark rum
- 0.75 oz overproof rum
- 0.5 oz cinnamon syrup (I substituted a pumpkin spice syrup)
- 0.5 oz falernum
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.75 oz grapefruit juice
- dash Angostura bitters
- absinthe rinse
Combine all ingredients except absinthe in a cocktail shaker, and shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass that has been lightly coated with absinthe. Garnish with a lime twist.
