Halloween: Day 21

All Hallows Chaos 2018: Samhain (bottle #54), Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

This is the only bottle of this perfume that exists; each Chaos bottle has a base inspiration (in this case BPAL’s Samhain scent) that has been randomly altered and added to. This bottle leans much more toward the foodie side than regular Samhain, with lots of vanilla and pumpkin, a bit of red musk, and a whispering background of incense.

Hollywood Dead by Richard Kadrey (Sandman Slim #10)

Sandman Slim started off a little too edgy-for-the-sake-of-edginess, but both the character and the author have grown over time. The remaining rough edges on his personality are believable, and his actions now have actual motivations instead of just being convenient for the plot. In this book he learns the true meaning of friendship, and how to patch up your slowly decaying body (he’s caught a bad case of undeath) with duct tape and plastic wrap.

How to Dance an Undead Waltz by Hailey Edwards (Beginner’s Guide to Necromancy #4)

This has been a really fun slow-burn M/F paranormal romance series. I hope it doesn’t stretch out too much further without resolving the main plot, but I also hope the author keeps writing books in this setting. (This is also the third series I’ve read recently with gwyllgi in it, which is a pretty good showing for obscure Welsh myth.)

That Devil, Pumpkin
