Halloween 2025: Day 29

Corpse Reviver #2 (wartime)

  • 1 part gin
  • 1 part Swedish punsch
  • 1 part triple sec
  • 1 part lemon juice
  • absinthe rinse

This variation on the classic shows up in several cocktail recipe collections in the 1940s. While there’s no known contemporaneous statement confirming this, it’s speculated that Lillet Blanc was less available in the US due to WWII and bartenders casting around for a suitable citrusy stand-in landed on Swedish punsch.

The Brides of Dracula

“You see, I can’t come. To you.”

The second Hammer Dracula film. Peter Cushing returns as van Helsing but Christopher Lee is nowhere to be seen. Instead we have a pouty blond failson who manages, what, two days from escaping confinement to Final Death? Suitably gothic, pretty entertaining, great use of a windmill.
