Knock at the Cabin

This isn’t Shyamalan’s worst movie, but it is (of the ones I’ve seen) the one I hated the most. Religious conspiracy theorists who met on a message board demand that a queer couple end their relationship because if they stay together society will be destroyed. Faith (gay dad with a severe concussion) and rationality argue, faith wins and kills himself, and the movie doesn’t even have the decency to leave it ambiguous whether that was the correct choice.

All of the actors turn in excellent performances, but that’s not sufficient reason to put up with this shallow exercise in didacticism.

Zombie Count

• 1 oz gin
• 1 oz sweet vermouth
• 1 oz Campari
• 0.5 oz lime juice
• 1 oz grapefruit juice
• 0.5 oz grenadine
• 0.5 oz allspice dram
• 1 dash absinthe
• 1 dash Angostura bitters

Whip shake, serve in a tall glass with crushed ice. (Note: Frederic Yarm’s original recipe calls for cinnamon syrup, not allspice dram.)
