Halloween 2023: Day 5

This is the hottest pepper I’ve ever grown, and I unwisely decided to eat an entire pod to check flavour and heat. The flavour was okay, fairly standard bhut fruitiness with a tiny hint of floral. The heat, though… unpleasant stinging, a lot of build and very lingering, but not so bad in the mouth. The stomach was the real problem, as I got to experience capsaicin cramps for the very first time. This is a very fun phenomenon where your stomach recognizes that you’ve ingested poison and rushes to defend against it by secreting mucus and speeding up the digestive process while yelling at your brain that it’s being stabbed.
